For many companies, deciding whether or not you should build in-house or outsource can be a difficult decision. In fact, this can be overwhelming for even the most seasoned business professional.

It can take a lot of analysis and consideration before a decision can begin to be reached. One way to make it easier is to use a decision matrix tool such as the Build vs. Buy Decision Matrix. Using this type of tool will allow your company to better assess whether it would be more beneficial for the company to build in-house or outsource to another company or even to another country.

The decision matrix tool is in-depth and covers everything your company needs to consider when trying to decide whether or not to outsource for products or services. This is important because there are a number of factors that go into making this type of decision and it can impact more than just the company's bottom line – it can also affect present employees with the company, especially when dealing with whether or not to outsource a specific department and cut those employees. With a decision matrix tool, you get a better idea of what is in the best interest of the company, while also evaluating other factors to see if outsourcing is really the answer.

Due to all of the things the decision matrix tool covers, this can be an extensive program. It is relatively easy to use, however it is probably not for people who do not have experience with these types of tools. Important decisions rest on the results and analysis from the Build vs. Buy Decision Matrix so you need to make sure you have included all of the relevant information needed for it to do its job.
